Keeping the Lights On… It is not just a metaphor!

The Board of Directors is a group of trusted servants who perform many tasks that are essential to maintaining the space where many of us found a sense of hope and freedom from despair.  Monthly operating expenses are approximately $6,000.  Tradition 7 donations from group meetings cover approximately $3,900 of these expenses.  The difference comes from your generous donations. As prudent stewards, we use these funds to pay monthly:

TO BECOME AN ALANO CLUB MEMBER

  1. The opposite of addiction is connection.  Your membership dues will support the Alano Clubs purpose of providing a safe place for social interaction, fellowship, relationship building, and connection for people who are newly sober and for the folks that have been coming around for a while.
  2. I am responsible. You will be an essential part of helping us maintain the financial viability of our beloved recovery home.  As a result of your membership dues, you get to participate in making sure that we are here not only for you but for the next person in recovery to cross our doorstep.
  3. Every A.A. group ought to be fully self-supporting. You will help ensure the Alano Club will continue to be home to approximately 20 homegroups with 3-4 daily meetings (Monday through Sunday) serving the Columbia, MD and surrounding areas as a recovery hub to hundreds of people.
  4. We are not a glum lot! You will help to ensure that several Alano Club sponsored events will have the resources to continue providing fellowship opportunities centered around recovery.  Such as yearly sober picnics; holiday events; holiday meeting marathons; recovery chip nights and other special recovery events.

Monthly Operating Expenses

  • Rent = $2923
  • BGE utilities and HVAC maintenance = $513
  • Trash removal = $446
  • Supplies – toilet paper, coffee, cups, paper towels, etc. = $806
  • Cleaning Services = $855
  • Telephone, insurance & storage = $188
  • Social functions – Saturday night games, sober jam, karaoke = $169
  • Building maintenance – security, locksmith, glass repair, replacing old furniture, literature = $350
  • Zoom and other digital expenses = $284
  • Contribution to AA Central Services / PLG group expenses = $790

Please consider supporting the club with an annual memberships or one-time donations. Of course, all are welcome at the Alano Club without regard to financial contribution.   If you are unable to make a donation, it is totally cool.  Keep coming back and financial recovery will come to you.

Memberships and renewals ($40 or more) can be made with a check payable to “Phelps Luck Alano Club, Inc”.  Our address is 9231 Rumsey Road, Suite 1, Columbia, MD 21045. There are also membership envelopes on the back wall in the club. You can fill out the envelope and give it to any meeting secretary to deposit with the meeting basket.  You can also donate or renew your membership on line using a major credit card or PayPal Account.
