About Us

The Phelps Luck Alano Club, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization with a board of directors and is not affiliated with AA in any way. Our specific mission is to maintain a safe/clean place for Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

The Alano Club’s board of directors conduct the business of renting space, paying the operating expenses of “keeping the lights on”, scheduling of fellowship meetings, and holding social activities to support and enhance the sobriety and serenity for all.

The Alano Club provides a safe, welcoming place where AA group members can gather to hold meetings and learn more about these recovery programs. Conveniently located in the northern part of Columbia, MD, our location offers plenty of room for groups of various sizes while still allowing for the anonymity that recovery groups need. The AA group meetings held at the club contribute donations from their 7th Tradition collections and operate as totally separate entities.

However, these group contributions have never been sufficient to cover all operating expenses.  The Alano Club offers membership with dues that are needed to keep the groups self supporting, in accordance with the AA traditions.  Alano Club members view their dues as a financial 12th step, ensuring that the Alano Club doors remain open to all who wish to experience the miracle of recovery.
